UPDATE July 19: Wow. Ok. Wow. Your calls and protests did good. You yelled. You screamed. You kept yelling and screaming. You staked it like Buffy. You nuked it from orbit, just to be sure.
Trumpcare, Senate version is dead as of July 17.
Trumpcare, straight repeal is dead as of July 18 because three GOP Senators–Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Shelley Moore Capito–announced they will vote no on a motion to proceed (MTP).
So, you may ask–Is it dead yet?
To borrow and paraphrase the immortal words of Michael Palin’s shopkeeper from Monty Python’s Dead Parrot sketch:
It’s not dead, it’s only resting.
McConnell announced plans to hold a motion to proceed on repeal next week. Trump has invited all the GOP senators to lunch on Wednesday, July 19.
Read more about the fallout from the death of Trumpcare, and McConnell’s intent to hold a vote next week, and Trump’s luncheon plans in this Politico article:
You’re doing great. Keep it up. You killed Trumpcare. Now we need to kill ACA repeal.
Keep calling your senators and telling them to fix the Affordable Care Act instead of repeal and replace.
If your senators are solid Dems, call and thank them for standing firm against the BCRA for the last few weeks, and urge them to fight repeal and replace.
If your senators are Republicans, call call call call call and make it damn clear that you want them to FIX the Affordable Care Act, not repeal and replace, and if they do the latter, you will vote for their opponents come reelection time.
