Support Democrat DD Adams’s Run for a House Seat in North Carolina’s 5th District

Support Democrat DD Adams’s campaign for a House of Representatives seat in North Carolina’s 5th District.

Adams has served on the nine-member Winston-Salem City Council for almost a decade. She is also the vice chair of the council’s finance committee as well as the community development/housing/general government committee.

During her time on the city council, Adams has fought to increase pay for city employees, including police and firefighters; supported the renovation of the Benton Convention Center; championed extending retirement and health care benefits to the spouses and children of LGBTQ city workers; and pushed for a hydroponic/aquaponic facility in a local neighborhood.

Adams will face one other Democrat in the May 8, 2018 primary. If she wins, she will challenge Republican seven-term incumbent Virginia Foxx for the seat. The Cook Political Report rates North Carolina’s 5th District as Solid Republican. Foxx won her most recent campaign with 58.4 percent of the vote to her Democratic challenger’s 41.6 percent.
