Update: Laura Moser came second behind Lizzie Pannill Fletcher in the primary and advanced to the primary runoff on May 22, 2018. This despite a bizarre late attack on her by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Congratulations, Laura!
Support Democrat Laura Moser’s campaign for the house seat in Texas’s 7th District.
Moser is an author and journalist who founded Daily Action, a text-messaging service that helps citizens engage with and petition their government. Since Moser created it after the 2016 election, about 300,000 people have used Daily Action to urge the rejection of Trump candidate nominees and to defend the Affordable Care Act.
Rather than creating an Issues page, Moser has a “Values” page on her site with headings that include Freedom, Family, and Fairness. The “Freedom” heading covers her support for civil rights, net neutrality, criminal justice reform, fighting voter-suppression tactics, and rejecting Trump’s travel ban on Muslims. “Family” covers protecting marriage equality, paid family leave, and improving access to child care and health care. “Fairness” cites her support for equal pay, campaign finance reform, more assistance for people with disabilities, and quality public school education.
Moser is one of seven Democrats vying for the chance to run against the Republican incumbent, John Culberson. The primary will take place on March 6, 2018. The Cook Political Report rates the Texas 7th District race as a Toss-up, but rival publications describe it as Likely Republican or Lean Republican. Culberson has held the seat since 2000.
